This water is why Borsec became a spa: it has been bottled since 1806.
About the place
Borsec has more than 15 springs of naturally sparkling mineral water, according to stirileprotv.ro. In the park and along Aleea 7 Izvoare you will find the Main Spring (no. 1), spring no. 2 (Erzsébet), Boldizsár (no. 3), László (no. 5) and Lázár (no. 6), most of them under pavilions of fretworked wood. Further south, towards Poiana Zânelor (Fairy Glade), are the Kossuth (no. 10) and Petőfi (no. 11) springs.
Borsec water has been bottled since 1806. At the 1873 Vienna exhibition it won a medal and the name 'Queen of Mineral Waters'. The Kossuth spring was found in 1868 and has the highest iron content of the resort's springs, according to visitharghita.com.
