Its tower of about 40 m dominates the centre, and its altars come from the workshop of an 18th-century sculptor from Cluj.
About the place
The parish is recorded from 1332, in the papal tithe register. Today's church was built between 1787 and 1791 on the site of a medieval church of the same dedication and consecrated in 1793 by Bishop Ignác Batthyány. It has three naves and a tower of about 40 m. Remains of the old church can be seen at the entrance to the sacristy.
The altars and pulpit were made in the workshop of the sculptor Simon Hoffmayer of Cluj. The organ was built in 1879 by István Kolonics. The Jesuits ran the parish until the order was dissolved in 1773.
