About the place
Gizi Csárda has been running since the 1990s. The building was renovated in 2007: the inn's rooms are upstairs and the restaurant is on the ground floor, with a large hall of 125 seats and a small room of 15, according to visitharghita.com. In summer about 20 more seats are set out in the garden.
The wall by the bar is hung with photos of well-known guests and with diplomas the kitchen has won at competitions. The menu has local dishes such as stuffed cabbage, zacuscă vegetable spread, aubergine salad and pancakes. It holds the county's Myrmidone certification, given to restaurants that cook with local produce and traditional recipes.
Good to know
- The restaurant opens daily at 8, so it also works for breakfast.
- For large groups or at weekends, call ahead: the big hall is also used for weddings and christenings.
- In summer, ask for a table in the garden.
