Most of the town's historic buildings are gathered here.
About the place
The town hall was built in 1895–1896 as the seat of Udvarhely County, to mark the Hungarian millennium, in eclectic style to plans by the architect Ottó Sztehlo. The Reformed church, built in 1780–1781, split the old market into two: the lower market, now Piața Primăriei, and the upper market, now Piața Márton Áron.
The twin-towered Franciscan church of Saints Peter and Paul was completed in 1779; next to it is the former friary with its cloister. Strada Kossuth Lajos, lined with merchants' houses from the 18th to the 20th century, starts from the square. The Memorial Park, laid out in 2004, holds busts of 13 legendary heroes, historical figures and artists.
