It is the only historic monument of national importance (category A) in Praid commune and keeps traces of the medieval church.
About the place
The church was built in the 13th–14th centuries as a Roman Catholic church; after the Reformation the village became Calvinist. The tower went up in 1777, and after the strong earthquake of 1802 the church was rebuilt between 1803 and 1806 in its present form. The west portal, with runic inscriptions, was kept.
During repairs in 1999 the foundations of a smaller 13th-century church and remains of frescoes were found under the floor. Inside, the sacristy of the old Catholic church is visible to the right of the pulpit, and a stone font found in the churchyard now stands to the left of it. The church is surrounded by an 18th-century enclosure wall with a shingle roof.
